Materials Used

Process

Step1: Bring together all the materials you wish to encase in your necklace! For this project, I choose two types of textured papers, dried pressed flowers and semi-precious – aquamarine and amber quartz and 4 Bezels.

Step 2: Rest the centre of each bezel on a levelled base. This will ensure an even coat when you pour the resin. Cut the textured paper to size and glue it down to the base, while gluing press the paper firmly ensuring it is secure.

Step 3: Let the base dry for awhile before you start this step. For the bezels with the pressed flowers, glue down each flower onto the paper and press lightly since the flowers will be very delicate to handle.

Step 5: Now it’s time to mix your resin! Take your Haksons Resin & Hardener -Ultra Clear High Gloss Epoxy Resin Coat -Grade I  and measure out your resin with the measuring spoons into a small plastic container, mix it until both the resin and hardener are uniform. For this project, I used around 10 – 15 ml of resin.

Step 6: Once your resin is cured with the help of a  wooden stick slowly start covering your flower and filling the bezel little by little. To avoid any overflow, it’s always better to fill the bezel-less when starting off and build it further. Once your flowers are encased cover your bezel and set it aside for one day.

Step 7: For the bezels with the semi-precious chips pour some resin first, just enough to cover the base and then start adding your chips. I did not cover this bezel till the top since I wanted a textured surface. In order to encase the chips perfectly making sure that the bottom of each of them are submerged in the resin perfectly. Once you’ve filled the entire bezel with the stones, cover it and let it cure.
