Recently we launched a set of pigments specialised for Haksons Epoxy Resin projects in our Haksons Resin Supplies<\/a> category. At BohriAli, we are constantly working on new products which are used for new applications. These pigments are used for a number of applications along with our Haksons Epoxy Resin.<\/p>\n

We are demonstrating a few of the art pieces created and the techniques used to make the art in the blog today.<\/p>\n

We’ve used a variety of pigments right from our brand new Haksons Concentrated pigments, to Haksons pearl powders, Sprayons Pearl colours and even Haksons Fluorescent acrylic paints mixed with resin to achieve some beautiful 3D effects and finishes on our art pieces. The center of each art piece is the Haksons Epoxy Resin and Haksons Pigments. We take you through a series of pictures and gifs along with descriptions that show you some of the techniques to pour pigments mixed with epoxy resin.<\/p>\n

We take you through a few steps to make it very easy for you to create something like this for yourself!<\/p>\n

When do you mix the pigments with the Haksons Resin?<\/h3>\n

Prepare the resin following the regular steps till the resin and hardener are one homogenous mixture. Pour some amount of resin in different transparent cups depending upon the colours you plan to make.<\/p>\n

Add pigments and mix thoroughly.<\/p>\n

Varying the amount of pigment added can change\u00a0the colour created.<\/p>\n

What are the different pigments that can be mixed with Haksons Resin?<\/h3>\n

  1. The go to pigment for the epoxy resin are the Haksons Concentrated Pigments<\/a>. They give a transparent tint to the entire resin with a single drop. Add more according to the colour you want to achieve. It gives almost the same surface finish as you would get with using only the epoxy resin i.e. the smooth high gloss clear coat. As it retains the transparency, it helps give a deep 3D effect to your art.\n

  2. The next pigments that you must add to your art are the pearl effect pigments. This gives the art a sparkling metallic effect with a variety of shades. Use in varying quantities depending on your pocket. In the projects featured below we used the liquid pearl\u00a0gold pigment<\/a>\u00a0, the green pearl powder<\/a>. We also mixed white pearl powder<\/a> with resin tinted with the green pigment<\/a> to give an additional dimension.\n

  3. \u00a0We move on to the opaque pigments which are essential to bring the art together. We have used a number of opaque pigments ranging from acrylic paints<\/a> to water based neon paints<\/a> to opaque resin pigments<\/a> to water based metallic colours<\/a>. The acrylic colours do not readily mix with the transparent pigments and hence give a unique effect to your art as shown below. The water based acrylic do not give the same smooth glass like finish over the top of the surface once cured.\n

    In the end, the possibilities are endless. Its all about iterations and getting the best out of the resin with the pigments at hand.<\/p>\n

    Is there a method behind pouring resin?<\/h3>\n

    The answer is no! The effects you want to bring out from the art will drive the methods used to pour the resin with different pigments. It is advisable to pour in small small amounts rather than all in one go. This will give you more control over the colours.<\/p>\n

    Pour different colours the way you want them for different effects. Pour layers on layers and use your hands, or a stick, a blow torch <\/a>or simply blow over the freshly poured pigments for some beautiful 3D effects. If the resin overflows, let it overflow, you can always pick it up and put it back on the art. Don’t fret over wasted resin, that doesn’t together with the creativity.<\/p>\n

    Before you start pouring, don’t forget to make sure your piece of wood or canvas is at 0 level or the resin with coloured pigments will start flowing according to the slope.<\/p>\n
