What will you require for this Furniture Polishing DIY Project?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Sand Paper (120 & 220)<\/li>\n
  2. Urethane Wood Clear (Matt or Glossy Finish according to requirements)<\/li>\n
  3. NC Solvent<\/li>\n
  4. Brushes (2 inches or 3 inches) – Select according to area to be polished.<\/li>\n
  5. Artistic Brushes<\/li>\n
  6. Wood Filler<\/li>\n
  7. Wood Stains (optional)\n

    Step 1:<\/strong><\/em><\/span> Clean the surface with a cloth. Ensure that it is free from dirt\/grease.<\/p>\n

    Step 2:<\/span><\/em><\/strong> Sand the surface to be polished with the 120 sand paper for sufficient time. Repeat the process with the 220 sand paper to attain smoothness. Do not proceed to the next step until the surface is completely smooth. Surface preparation will consume 75% of your time and energy.<\/p>\n

    Pro Tip: After every layer of sanding, change the direction in which you proceed to minimise unwanted scratches.<\/p>\n

    Step 3:<\/span> <\/strong><\/em>Wipe the dust created by sanding.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Step 4:<\/strong><\/em><\/span> Use masking tape and newspaper to cover any unwanted objects such as glass, plywood etc. This will ensure that the urethane wood clear does not spoil other surfaces.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Step 5:<\/span> <\/strong><\/em>Mix 20-25% NC Solvent (Thinner) in Urethane Wood Clear. Apply 1 coat of the solution you just prepared with a suitable brush (2 inches or 3 inches). Wait for 2-3 hours.\u00a0If you are re-polishing the surface you can skip the next step.<\/p>\n

    (Note: You can add wood stainers to the prepared solution if you want a required colour finish to your furniture otherwise the urethane wood clear will give you a clear polish either matt or glossy as you have chosen.)<\/p>\n

    Step 6:<\/strong><\/em><\/span> If you are re-polishing the surface you can skip the next two steps. Fill the holes or any such defect in the furniture with a wood filler. Follow it by mild sanding with the 220 sand paper.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Step 7:<\/span> <\/em><\/strong>Proceed by coating the surface as you have done in step 4. You can apply 3-4 coats on the surface with an interval of 2-3 hours between each coat for amazing finish. Use artistic brushes for a better finish to your furniture.<\/p>\n
